Xingyiquan (Form and Mind Boxing)
This features the five basic techniques (based on five elements: metal, water, wood, fire, earth): splitting fist, drilling fist, smashing fist, pounding or cannon fist and crossing fist. This style of boxing has evolved from the imitation of the characteristic movements of twelve animals, such as dragon, tiger, monkey, horse, water lizard, chicken, sparrow hawk, swallow, snake, tai bird, eagle and bear. Simple and steady movements, as well as straightforward and compact routines, characterize Xingyiquan.
